RE: Anybody use NAPA oil filters for Cummins?

Read a study on oil filters. Wix was the number 1 (Wix makes NAPA filters) along with a few others. According to the study stay away from Fram. I don't remember the other highly rated filters because I always use NAPA on all my vehicles.

RE: Pad Advice

I would not use asphalt. The asphalt will settle once it gets hot even if you only have the tire on the surface. Before you put any surface down rent a tamper and compact the fill as much as possible. This will also help with the leveling.

RE: Auto levelers scare me :ohnoes:

You have to have the rear on the ground for the emergency brake to keep the vehicle from moving.

RE: Replacing Manual Awning with Power Awning

We love our auto awning. Mainly because if winds or heavy rain pops up while away DW only needs to push a button to close the waning. I have seen a lot of auto awnings tied down for windy days. (WeaterPro has a disable position auto retract)

RE: running 2 ac's on 30 amp service

My unit has the system that turns appliances off as the current draw increases. How does the generator wiring change effect the auto system?

RE: Shutting off heat

I shut off the water, turn off the hot water heater and set the thermostat at 45. We used less than 60 gal. for four months. That includes a large detached garage with thermostat also set at 45.(I keep a lot of liquids in the garage)

RE: Autotune DirectTV DVR for upcoming programs??

I had autotune on my Dish reciever and like you was disappointed when the Direct DVR would not autotune. I have a remote TV in my work shop and autotune allowed me to setup several channels ahead of time. VERY UNHANDY!

RE: Pace Arrow quality and problems

I have a 2008 Southwind 36D. I believe service and backing by the factory all depends on the dealer. I bought mine at Farnsworth RV. They bent over backward to fix all my problems. First I had a lean to the right. They contacted the factory and after having me take several measurements (I live 100 miles from the dealer) they installed a wedge in the rear springs. I had to put caulking in the hole for the Sat. radio antenna wire. I had a leak in the front bath. It appeared to be the caulking around the bath window or slide side window. Dealer recaulked all windows. The leak ruined the linolium in the bath. The dealer would have replaced the linolium but I would have had to leave the unit. So they sent me the new flooring and I replaced it. So from my stand point the dealer and the factory did what needed to be done. In talking with other RVers it seems all units have some problems. Therefore it seems to me if the dealer is willing to go to bat for you, then life is good.

EVDO air card

I was told by a sales rep at Sprint that outside the EVDO area the aircard would run slower than dialup. I was sure that I was told by another rep somewhere that the aircard would run fast but EVDO was real fast.

RE: ELECTRICAL

I am assuming a good battery! The amount of current draw will determine how fast the battery discharges.
Start by removing the pos. term cable. Take a multi meter, set to read current. Place between the cable and the battery terminal. If you have something drawing current you should see a reading. At this point start removing fuses until the draw stops. It you still have a draw after all the fuses are removed you have a high resistant short somewhere. To diagnose this situation you will need a schematic and work from there.

RE: Washer\Dryer testimonials

We love our vented combo. The trick seems to be pull the clothes out after washing, shake and then put back in to dry. Works great.

RE: filling tank with $75 limit on CC

All the stations that I stopped at could override the $75 limit. They said to stop inside before starting to fill. They hold the CC until finished then run the card.

RE: Full Body Paint Designs?

I have the 2008 Southwind with full body paint. You could stop at a SW dealer and get a brochure. They have several color combinations. Ours is the Black, silver and gray. Very easy to clean. I use the spotless ICE car wash.

RE: Another vote for 60mph

I haven't tried 60 with the Lance 981 on a F350 diesel. I did slow to 62/63 coming home from Fla. last spring. Mileage improved 1.5 mpg from the trip down at 67/68. I did slow our MH down to around 60 and got over 8 mpg. Before cruising at 64/65 got around 7. Both campers were pulling a Hyundai on a tow dolly. We plan a trip to Maine this fall and I plan to run between 58 and 60. Anxious to see what mpg I get. Also won't take the car along.

RE: Gas Engine, Torque and Economy?

I have the F-53 with the 362 horse V10. I'm not sure were max torque is but when I slowed to 58 MPH from 63 the mileage went from 7 mpg to 8.1. I'm sure a lot of the increase is due to less air resistance more so than running at peak torque.
